January 7th, 2019 Exploris Grade 7
Welcome back! We are so excited to see everyone today and look forward to getting back into the swing of things. Please help your child get back into good habits of reading nightly and sitting down to do their homework. The least they should have each night is to read for 30 mins., do some Khan, and review their notes from the day.
With the start of the new year, we are implementing a new strategy to manage behavior. We often find that instructional time is spent managing side conversations. In an effort to thwart those interruptions students will be given a silent warning and will then asked to leave the room should the disruptive behavior continue. When students are sent out of the classroom for disrupting class, we will be asking them to send an email home to describe why their behavior removed them from the classroom. The goal of this email is to both alert parents of their child’s behavior and have the student reflect.
REMINDER: Portfolios have been changed to the week of January 28 – 31st. If you have not scheduled a time please contact your child’s crew teacher. In the meantime, please purchase 1 package of page protectors to share with the class for portfolios.
EXPRESSIONS DAY: It’s time to share your talents with the Exploris Community! We are looking for crews, small groups, and individuals to perform at Expressions Day on January 18th from 1:30-3:00 at Christ the King Presbyterian Church located at 117 S. West St. Each grade level will have equal time to show off of their talent and school spirit. Crew teachers will share details about getting your act approved. Parents are welcome to join us!
